PROJECT
The Cheddar’s concept began over 30 years ago with a simple approach: to serve good, handcrafted food made from scratch. That approach has fueled the brand’s growth across the country. FUSION AE is proud to serve as the design team supporting Cheddar’s nationwide expansion in partnership with their corporate development group.
PROCESS
Through the recent years of collaboration, FUSION AEs team of designers, architects, and engineers has worked closely with Cheddar's to identify value engineering opportunities aimed at reducing construction costs and speed up construction schedule. Initial review of the original prototype construction documents culminated in a complete value engineering analysis documenting $200,000 in potential construction cost reductions.
Working with the corporate construction and facilities teams, FUSION AE's team of design professionals developed a new prototype set that incorporated many of the construction cost saving measures.
Each 8,000-square-foot location includes ground-up construction, a scratch kitchen, and an updated contemporary bar, all designed for efficiency and consistency.
RESULT
The result is a refined prototype that supports Cheddar’s continued growth with a more efficient and cost-effective design. FUSION AE continues to provide support—including architecture, interior design, MEP, structural, program management, and construction administration, helping Cheddar’s deliver on its original promise while optimizing for the future.
